Challenge: Ilfracombe
Word Count: 100
Note: this is yet another snippet from the Motherless Child series, where Snape and Lupin marry and adopt a young werewolf. Their son, John, is about ten.

Remus finally managed to get close enough to grab Severus, who in turn grabbed their son long enough for Remus to apparate them to safety. The phoenix tattoo on his shoulder was flaming brightly enough to show through his clothing, even though he was outwardly his usual calm self.

“Papa? Where are we?” John, who had somehow managed to keep from smashing an ice lolly into Severus' hip, pointed at a towering hill. “I don't think we're in Holyhead any more. Can we still get tea somewhere?”

Severus glanced about and shrugged. “Speaking of Ilfracombe - “

Remus groaned.

There is a post at Livejournal explaining this further, but I will be closing this community to further comments by April 30. Nothing will be deleted or lost, but we're going to center Lupin_Snape activity at Dreamwidth from now on. Please post there from now on. We're going to finding and bookmarking any Insanejounal-only activity for your future use, never fear.

Moonlight Madness @ 10:10 pm

Current Mood: excited

Let's go with 's idea and do a week-long minifist in June and a longer one in July (so as not to conflict with [info]hp_may_madness).

So. The week-long mini-fest will be June 11-17. Think of it as a warm-up for the full month-long fest in July! Start tending your plotbunnies now! Feed them lots of hay and fresh veggies!

The rules are:
  • One hundred or more words a day.
  • Must be on-topic for the community. (Must include either Snape or Lupin, preferably together.)
  • It must be new work that you wrote for the fest (but you can brainstorm now, or even outline as long as you're not actually writing it now).
  • If you miss a day, you can post 200+ words the next day. For the week-long fest, that's the catch-up limit. For the month, you can miss up to four days if you post 500 words on day five.
Please feel free to promote this fest widely! Good luck!

(Please comment on Dreamwidth.)

Note: this is yet another snippet from the Motherless Child series, where Snape and Lupin marry and adopt a young werewolf. Their son, John, is about ten.

“Dad? Papa? I thought Aunt Ginny was married to Uncle Harry!” John was, of course, fascinated by the Kiss and its aftermath. “Why were they - “

“That's their concern, love,” said Remus. He ducked as Angelina's Weasley lobbed a hex at his sister, who was hovering just out of range and shouting about living her own life for a change. “Adult life can be complicated - “

“And dangerous,” said Severus, automatically deflecting a stray bat bogey. Someone was yelling nonsense about “worse than Ilfracombe,” which did not apply since there were no dragons or Muggles.

I participated in [community profile] firewhiskeyfic last night and I just spent a few fun minutes going back through the threads at our encouragement/support post. As fun as we are when sober, we're even more hilarious when drunk.

Alas, it's too late to participate in this round, but if you want a laugh, go check out the post. *shakes head* We're pretty wacky. And you can definitely tell when someone gets drunk. :P

Oh, and the results of our drunken revelry go up on Tuesday, so plan to check that out.
I, for one, will be interested to see what I wrote, since I have no clue. (Did I mention I was drunk?) :P
I'm prepared to be very surprised. *g*

Harry does his best to hide his attraction to Snape but can't resist convincing the Potions Master to join his little department of the Ministry when he needed help. Just what did Lily's potion do?

AN:  Yen has been nice enough to edit this one, but it does mean that it will be coming out on her schedule not mine. ^-^

Challenge 690: The Snapely Alphabet of Places - Ilfracombe

This seaside resort town in Devon is where Muggles apparently got to see a dragon up close. Of course they don't recall this since they were Obliviated. Do you think Snape is familiar with this place? Would he ever go there? However you see it, this week we discuss Snape and Ilfracombe.

The Quidditch pitch was to the east of Holyhead under concealment charms. The seats were comfortable, the concessions excellent, and the team skilled and fierce. By the time the Holyhead Seeker triumphantly raised the Snitch, even Severus conceded that the holiday was a success.

Then Ginny Potter swooped down, grabbed Angelina Weasley by the shoulders, and gave her a thorough, deep, and not remotely platonic fashion. Remus grabbed John and began babbling about getting an ice lolly as the crowd roared, Angelina's Weasley went ashen, and Potter literally shrieked before rushing for the exit.

So much for a pleasant afternoon.

“Why is Uncle Harry so angry?” John flinched as Potter, the lion on his Gryffindor t-shirt all but bristling, strode past his collected in-laws. Ginny, lips thinned, shook her head and turned back to her sister-in-law and teammate.

“I've no idea, darling,” murmured Remus, smoothing the boy's hair into place. His fingers shaped the old Order code: glad he controls legilimency.

Severus crooked a finger in response: yes. “Sometimes adults fight. It's the way of the world.”

Ginny and Angelina laughed over a private joke. The rest of the Weasleys did not look pleased.

What was going on?
